Symptom: | Radio will not transmit or receive after warm-up. | |
Probable Cause: | PLL unlock. | |
Cure: | Replace unstable C228 with a ceramic equivalent and adjust the lock voltage for 2 volts instead of 2.5 volts as stated in the manual. | |
Symptom: | Carrier output when mic is keyed in SSB mode, distorted TX audio. RF feedback. | |
Probable Cause: | RF feedback. | |
Cure: | Add a ground jumper at J10, pin 4 on main unit. | |
Symptom: | Won't operate tuner. | |
Probable Cause: | S1 and/or S2 on the logic are not set in the proper position. Q52 may be bad. | |
Cure: | Set switches correctly. Check Q52 for failure. | |
Symptom: | No display. | |
Probable Cause: | IC5 and C12 blown on logic unit. | |
Cure: | Replace blown IC5 and C12. | |
Symptom: | Radio won't turn off. | |
Probable Cause: | Bad Q1 on relay unit. | |
Cure: | Replace Q1. | |
